Issue
Something went wrong when a user was installing HP Officejet 7500A multi-functional A3 printer software from HP website. The printer doesn’t appear in Windows 10 Settings > Printers & Scanners. In the old Control Panel > Devices and Printers it appears under Unspecified devices, but fails to print or display printer properties. The printer is connected via USB cable.
Reinstalling HP software and drivers doesn’t help. Trying to uninstall HP Officejet 7500 E910 Basic Device Software fails with the following error:

“C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\hpwia_oj7500_e910. inf_amd64_a273b0b47eb558ad\hpwia_oj7500_e910.inf”:
A caller of DnverPackagelnstall must be a member of the Administrators group to install a driver package.
Resolution
- Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository, take ower ownership and give yourself full permissions to the whole hpwia_oj7500_e910.inf_amd64_a273b0b47eb558ad folder, then delete it.
- Uninstall HP Officejet 7500 E910 Basic Device Software. This time the uninstall process completed without any errors.
- In Printer Management MMC remove all drivers related to HP Officejet 7500A printer.
- Reinstall HP printer drivers/software and connect the printer with USB cable when prompted.
