OneDrive doesn’t load in Windows 10

OneDrive

Issue

A user cannot open OneDrive from the Start Menu. There is no warnings or errors, OneDrive simply doesn’t open. Reinstalling OneDrive doesn’t fix the issue.

Resolution

After a short investigation, I found that OneDrive was disabled on the computer via Group Policy:

  • Policy “Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage” was set to Enabled in Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > OneDrive

To fix the issue, I had to set the policy to Not Configured (or Disabled).

An alternative method is to check the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\OneDrive.
If DisableFileSyncNGSC key exists and is set to 1, OneDrive won’t work. Set it to 0 or delete it completely.
