Archived emails in Gmail are simply emails with all labels removed. You can view them in “All Mail” view, but they are displayed alongside all other emails. To view only archived mail (i.e. emails with no labels) run following search:
has:nouserlabels -in:Inbox -in:Sent -in:Draft -in:Chat
