Windows cannot find ‘gpedit.msc’

Issue

• Windows Server 2003 SP2 64bit
• Group Policy Management Console with Service Pack 1

Group Policy Management Console opens normally, but when trying to open Group Policy Object Editor (to edit a particular policy), following error is displayed:

Windows cannot find ‘gpedit.msc’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

Solution

Copy file gpedit.msc from C:\WINDOWS\system32 to C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64
