Windows XP mode prompts for XPMUser password

Issue

Windows XP Mode VM running inside Windows 7 Pro laptop started prompting for XPMUser account password. This is the default XP Mode Virtual Machine account that is configured during initial XP Mode setup. User didn’t know what the password was.

Resolution

• Boot Windows XP Mode Virtual PC in Safe Mode (press F8 during boot).
• Login with administrator account with blank password. This will only work in Safe Mode. 
• Reset XPMUser account password.
• Reboot the VM, re-enable Integration Features, and enter the new password when prompted.
